One Sentence, for our children

If, in some cataclysm, all of scientific knowledge were to be destroyed, and only one sentence passed on to the next generation of creatures, what statement would contain the most information in the fewest words? I believe it is the atomic hypothesis that all things are made of atoms — little particles that move around in perpetual motion, attracting each other when they are a little distance apart, but repelling upon being squeezed into one another. In that one sentence, you will see, there is an enormous amount of information about the world, if just a little imagination and thinking are applied. ~ Richard Feynman

If, in some cataclysm, all of my knowledge were to be destroyed, and only one sentence passed on to my children, what statement would contain the most information in the fewest words? I believe it is the simple truth that all of us begin as an ego — heeding our parents’ voices gives us knowledge that gets us to reason — heeding our inner voice gives us clarity that gets us to intuition — heeding our creator’s voice gives us wisdom that gets us to holiness. In that one sentence, you will see, there is an enormous amount of information about the world, if just a little humility and introspection are applied. Remember too, the pareto principle that 80% of us will vacillate between ego and reason for most of our lives, and that the only true bridge (or shortcut if you will) between ego and holiness, is Christ. ~ Daddy O
